Announcing the Creative Generation Fellowship Program

Creative Generation is pleased to announce its new Fellowship Program to recognize and collaborate with elder, senior, and veteran practitioners in our field who are seeking to share their knowledge, ways of knowing, and lived experiences with future generations.

The Creative Generation Fellowship Program aims to foster a peer-to-peer network to generate radical ideas to inform work, interconnect people and projects, and activate new practices of eldership with the fields of arts and culture, education and youth development and social justice. Throughout this annual program, participants from diverse backgrounds will connect in one place to interrogate key issues and field-wide challenges based on their lived experiences and to reflect on lessons learned. The hope is to identify promising practices and research that generates tools and resources to be shared with the field at large. Both participating Fellows and Creative Generation will then be prepared to produce informative resources (e.g.. journal articles, podcast episodes, video presentations, blog posts, etc)  and support solutions-oriented ideas to be uplifted and shared throughout our networks.

“Over the last three years, the Collective of individuals at Creative Generation has been generously supported by numerous mentors in our work; the lessons we have learned are invaluable,” said Jeff M. Poulin, managing director of Creative Generation. “We, at Creative Generation, believe in the power of intergenerational collaborations and seek to further embed this in our internal operations and processes, while uplifting, platforming, and celebrating the elders who have been instrumental to our work.”

Creative Generation was founded in April, 2019 as a research initiative and has grown its work throughout the United States and around the world. Through pioneering research in the arts and culture, education and youth development and social justice fields – and the relentless support of arts and cultural educators in their work to cultivate the creative capabilities of young people – the organization regularly provides space for colleagues who work at the intersection of the arts, culture, education, youth development and social change.

“I am excited about what is to come through the collaborations between Creative Generation and the Fellows and how it will help to push forward and inform the work that we do as a Collective for years to come,” said Caryn Cooper, Leadership Programs Manager at Creative Generation.

”There are so many champions across our fields who have pioneered dramatic change; interrogated broken systems; and asked big, sometimes wildly uncomfortable questions - we want to uplift these voices and partner with them to bring forth their thoughts to inform the work yet to come,” said Valerie HD Killebrew, Director of Leadership at Creative Generation.
